Special Summer Adventure Section....

Summer Camp 2009: June 14-20, Camp Arrowhead,
Ozark Trails Council, Marshfield, Missouri

The camp doesn't have a separate web site, but you can see the small amount of information available on the Ozark Trails Council's camping page: Camp Arrowhead. There you can download the leader handout, if you are interested.

Here is the must-read detailed Summer Camp 2009 handout from our Scoutmaster Richard Davis. Note that May 11 is the date planned for free physicals which are required for campers.

Cost for 2009 summer camp is $225, but the price drops to $195 if we pay by April 17. Early payers get the discount AND a free camp T-shirt, too.

If you want to pay $195 for summer camp instead of the regular $225, and you didn't get a chance to pay at Monday's court of honor, please call Scoutmaster Richard Davis at 918-606-1035 or e-mail him at richiebob@windstream.net by April 15 and confirm that you can pay Richard by April 21. This will help us get the needed payments to the camp in time for the discount.

Also, please e-mail me (markduanelee@gmail.com) and confirm with the names of your Scouts who are going to summer camp this year, whether you have prepaid or not.

For a map with text directions, click Arrowhead Driving Directions.

The quality is not very good, but here is a campground map.

We gleaned this bit of camp background from elsewhere on the Internet:

"The Ozark Trails Council operates Camp Arrowhead, the oldest continuously operating Boy Scout Camp west of the Mississippi River. The camp is situated on approximately 650 beautiful wooded acres in the Ozark Mountains near Marshfield in southwest Missouri. The property features a lake, many miles of hiking trails, a stream, caves, a spring, and various examples of native Missouri flora and fauna."

Here is a Summer Camp Gear list to pack with.

High Adventure: June 25-28
Current River 50 Mile Float Trip

This year we will float the Current River in Missouri. We will be posting an agenda later. The canoe gear list link is at the bottom of this page.

Our Current River canoe outfitter will again be Two Rivers Outfitters based in Eminence, Missouri. You must be at least 13 years of age to go, or 12-year-olds can go if accompanied by their dads. All must be approved by the troop committee. Visit the Troop 930 photo gallery (link at left) to see photos from our 2006 float trip.

To see some of our other typical activities, read the two examples below:

Example January 2005 camp-in agenda at the church building and Whispering Hills church park here in Broken Arrow. (We usually have a camp-in during January because of the potential for risky travel conditions this time of year.)

Example February 2004 campout agenda at Camp McClintock near Bartlesville and Osage Hills State Park, Acrobat PDF format.
