U.S. Army Tour.
1962 - 1978

In 1963 I enlisted in the Army at a little town called Moose, Wyo. and was sent to Fort Ord, CA for my basic training and  AIT, indoctrination into the Army way of life, I found it to be tougher and more physical but more of a challenge then the Air Force way of life. Following is a partial list of the stations or posts I have been assigned to during my sixteen years with the Army;

    *
      1963--1966  Giessen Germany
    *
      1966--1967  Ft Bragg, NC
    *
      1967--1968  Vietnam
    *
      1968--1969 Ft Leonardwood, MO.
    *
      1969--1970 Ft Benning, GA
    *
      1970--1973 Wurzburg, Germany
    *
      1973--1976 Ft Carson, CO.
    *
      1976--1978 Wiesbaden, Germany (Brigade`76)
    *
Oct 1978 Retired at Ft Stewart, GA.

My wife and I enjoyed the time we spent in the Army, it was very challenging for her having to move every three years or shorter and getting adjusted to the new environments and customs of each new assignment at different posts and commands. The Military is not a place for all wife's or persons, it takes a very special woman to spend twenty years or so moving  in and out, giving up her household and starting a new one in a foreign country, especially while raising children, keeping the family together while her mate is off to war or maneuvers for months at a time. My hats off to those  wives who have accomplished this in their life time of service to husband, family, and country.

Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that something else is more important than fear.
